AAUW Mission |
AAUW was founded in 1881. Today we have 100,000 members nationwide, 1,300 Branches, and 500 partnerships with colleges and universities. Redlands Branch of AAUW was organized in 1947 and will celebrate 65 years in 2012. Our branch is proud to be part of a great organization of women founded on the principle that woman can succeed and be competitive in a world once dominated by men. These early women fought for us to have a place in present day society and we must not let them down. The Redlands Branch will continue to advocate for women in areas such as education funds for women in higher education, research, sports, medical care, job opportunities and equal pay. AAUW is open to a) all graduates with a baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited college or university who can join as association members, and b) student affilitates who can join when they are enrolled in a regionally accredited educational institution. In principal and in practice, AAUW values and seeks a diverse membership. There shall be no barrier to full participation in this organization on the basis of gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, or physical ability. |
